On Monday, we advised that US Mint Silver Eagle sales had reached 3.957 million oz for the first week of 2012- and 800,000 ounces over the last 4 business days of the week- for a sales pace of 200,000 ounces/ day. Tuesday, the total had reached 4.257 million ounces, a jump of 300,000 ounces overnight. We projected at that pace, Silver Eagle sales for January would hit 9 million ounces.The Mint tonight updated their January sales totals to 4,597,000 ounces sold, another 300,000 ounce increase since Tuesday. Clearly demand for Silver Eagles is continuing at a torrid pace.
