Ok, so its not an initial or maintenance margin decrease, and its probably just for the headlines, but the CME Group today lowered intra-commodity spread margins for gold, silver, and copper today. Spread margins involving silver were lowered from 50-55% to the 30-45% range.
So this is how the CME responds to Shanghai lowering silver margins this week...by making faux margin decreases? Wake us up when the CME actually lowers initial or maintenance margins.
