We just reported that Hugo Chavez has nationalized the entire Venezuelan gold industry this afternoon.
Well, Hugo didn't stop there, as latest headlines flashing indicate that Chavez has requested that the Bank of England return 99 Tons of Venezuelan gold held on deposit, and a total of 211 Tons of gold held abroad (WSJ).
For those with any knowledge of the cartel, you know where this is heading.
For those who don't....the Bank of England currently stores 211 tons of Venezuela's gold in the vaults of (per Bloomberg) JP Morgan, Barclays, and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
A last check of physical gold inventory in The Morgue's vault showed a whopping 338,303 total ounces of gold...roughly 10.6 tons.
In an absolute shocker to all who follow gold and silver here, are we about to see the COMEX GOLD market busted/default before COMEX SILVER?????
Look for gold to VAULT past $1800 in the access/ Asian markets tonight when this news spreads.
If Chavez carries through with this ultimatum, look for Venezuela to receive the Gaddafi/ Libyan treatment within the week.

Well I don't know, but if left up to the likes of the some of the nameless, faceless, trolls in places like Halliburton, and the industrial/military complex in general, probably in a heartbeat. War, any war is just too irresistibly profitable. But they don't necessarily get to decide. Their world is bigger than that. So, I think it seems a bit of an extreme prediction here. International wars are not always fought with guns. And with some of the folk that I suggested may be steering Hugo, the blow-back may be too much. But that doesn't mean there won't be retaliation by other means. And don't think Hugo isn't ready for that. Both sides think many moves ahead, or there is no battle.
And please let's not pit me vs Doc here, as It would not surprise me a bit if the Doc's prediction happens. We know they've been itching for it for a long time. But then again, how do you expand the war theater yet again, now in election season with increasingly relevant voices like Ron Paul on stage? Pat, since when does winning an election declared 'Free And Fair' by international observers make one a dictator? That was in spite of every commercial media outlet in the country presenting no-stop coverage of the fake 'protests' full of paid marchers bused in by the oligarchs.
Chavez has taken the country's oil revenue and, rather than funnel it to the mega-rich, used it to raise the literacy rate, improve health care, and bring potable water, electricity and sewage systems to the 80 percent of the country who live in poverty. Rather wish we had a 'dictator' like that here.
Unlike Pat, I don't feel sorry for the multinational mining conglomerates. They've been on notice for years to 1) pay the taxes they're owed, 2) pay the debts they owe to land owners, 3) clean up their really filthy ore processing operations.
They had a contract with the Venezuelan people, allowing them to extract the minerals in exchange for accepting certain responsibilities. They haven't done any of those things, and in fact their environmental record has gotten even worse. If the poor, downtrodden mega-corporations had just held up their part of the bargain there wouldn't have been an issue. They've had to learn the hard way, just the same as the oil companies did.

My answer will start out ugly -
Who was going to arrest a Roman emperor, King Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc., etc., etc. I don't think it is hyperbole to make such comparisons. The Anglo-American complex may yet have it's Nuremberg moment, at least in revealing how things really work and what has transpired. although in history books, it was written that the so called europeans claimed to have found the falkland island, it doesn't mean that they owned the island and should not give back to the Argentinians. For god sake, the land is thousands and thousands of miles away from the english land and yet the english said they own the island.
