Prepping is partly buying a grocery list of items you need to stock, as well as a mind set that moves beyond the physical act of getting supplies in the cupboard. Stocking up is a great place to start. Stocking also buys you invaluable time to assess situations as they crop up while keeping you safe.
Preppers have a situational awareness of what might affect them in unexpected ways and unpredictable directions. Every plan comes unglued when it encounters the real world so having backups to your plan will smooth your way to safety. Some of those are in this short guide.
Proceed gradually as you build in this mind set. It takes time, resources and commitment. It does not come naturally because to acknowledge that you are a prepper confronts the reality that things can go from comfortable to the opposite very quickly.
Without these plans the alternatives are always less than optimal.

Nice. Thanks for the download.

AGXIIK: Thanks for the Prepping Manual. I haven't had time to look through it all yet. I will review this and add any input I can as well as learn, make suggestions and ask questions.
I am well versed in the art of "Making It". I was lucky enough to live with my grandmother (while my dad was overseas - Air Force). She lived the old ways. Chickens, pigs, biscuits and molasses (and I make a good one), maple tree syrup, taking a bath in a wash tub, etc. Boy scout, combat first aid instructor (Air Force), survival training and a lot of other good items. Not enough time right now.
We grow our veggies and can/freeze/dehydrate/smoke. I hope I can learn and add. Most of all, following your posts, I appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts and experience and help everyone.
Perhaps someday we will meet. I think we could have a good converse.

All input is welcomed since this is an evolving art and my material is limited due space considerations. Prepping is like eating an elephant. One bite at a time.
I enjoy the give and take on this site
Thanks. I wouldn't think of posting over what you have here. I'll contact you somehow if there are things to add or change. Keep on gettin' it.

Outstanding AGXIIK! You definately chose the red pill! Who would have thought a retired banker could be this well prepared :)

Thx for sharing, AGXIIK. Will have to read this later, as I already blew half the day foraging for Silver coins from a private seller.
One of these coins is an 1854-0 Seated Liberty half dollar. This is the oldest coin that I have picked up yet, on my silver-hunting forays!
This afternoon will be spent mixing compost intio the soil inside one of the greenhouses...speaking of prepping.
Fwiw...about MRE's...
If you're planning on buying a years worth or more...without ever having eaten one, do yourself a favor....buy a few first and taste try them.
If I never eat another MRE again, it'll be too soon. lol
The only good thing about them is...you'll need less toilet paper than what you have. lol
I would use MREs for emergency food, usually in the Bug Out Bag or a quick fix. Much better chow can be had with freeze dried and dehydrated foods With a little work they cook up pretty well. I tested a few. Efoods is ok but Mountain Home is better Mountain Home can be had thru Emergency Essentials.com Costco.com has decent selections too. These items can be stored in a cool dry area for up to 10 years.
If I lived in the US I would be hunkering down too.
I am not so worried living in Australia. We have low public debt by today's standards. We have a small population of 22M and a lot of resources.
There are some very restrictive laws here but nobody really notices or cares because they are relatively spoilt. The government has the constitutional authority to confiscate gold here for example. They have banned guns and soon crossbows and restriction on knives exist.
Here is a link and an excerpt below.
http://goldchat.blogspot.com/2008/11/australian-gold-confiscation.html
"In this respect Australia has a relatively higher risk because Australian law already has a mechanism in place to require delivery of gold to the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) - Part IV of the Banking Act 1959. There is no need for the Government of the day to have to rush new legislation through that may attract public comment or opposition. All that is required is the Governor General to proclaim that Part IV shall come into operation. The ease with which this can occur is a negative mark for Australia."
Good luck with your revolution in Australia. Banning crossbows and knives-how absurb and liberal can you get. P.S. Australia has a HUGE housing bubble ready to burst.
AGXIIK, Any chance you can post a PDD link?

I sent the 26 page guide to Doc last week He may be able to construct a pdf link but posted the data on scribd
I think this guide is also printable off the SD site. I'll check with Doc to see how that works.
The actual info in this material is my original construction so I did not create a 'link' as such. It is not copywrited in any way so you are welcome to share with anyone who might be interested.
sorry
My technological knowledge is pretty crappy overall.
All Metal construction: How effective will gold confiscation be there? Do they know every ounce everyone has (traceable)? They'll have a really hard time here. They'll probably be better to make it a crime to sell. Even that may prove be unenforceable. Just wondering, and good luck my northern neighbor.

I look at it this way
If gold was on the government radar and they wanted to confiscate it I have completely water and air proof ammo cans, plastic or metal One shovel, a little elbow grease and that phyzz disappears. One 50 cal ammo can will hold 720 coins with a little room to spare. At present prices that is over $1,100,000 I don't have that much gold but the idea hold water.
Unless the Nat Pol hot wires what little brain I have, no one knows where my stack is buried. Geocacheing or a simple GOS coordinate makes the retreival simple. Not that I know anything about that sort of thing. I'm more of a map type of person.
I was just reading an article about a Roman legion paymaster burying the gold and silver coins for his division in a clay pot This was commonplace to hide the payroll against theft.
Something must have happened to the pay master because those coins were dug up 1,700 years later and the coins were like new---or so the story goes.
Holding silver is probably better since it is a more readily usable real money and easier to cash into small bits of FIAT if needed. Silver is more of an 'under the radar' currency That's why I noted it as a good additional to your bug out bag.
Ahh! The Goldstein factor. Silver a gold can last a lot longer under the dirt than we'll all be around. I like the ammo can thought. I'll rely on memory and compass rather than GPS. Not that there is anything wrong with GPS. Just my way (the old way I suppose).
I was just very curious as to how the Canadian gov. would confiscate.
Once again, good comments AGXIIK.

Goon squads all operate the same. Brute force starts with the mission that they can cow you into submission. Then they to psyops. If you can resist that, you should be home free.
I don't see the US or Canada resorting to the measures used against Al Queda Not one was able to resist that. I've read water boarding beats even the strongest will
I read a saying that was provided by David Morris, the creator of Urban Survival Guide.
His site is secretsofurbansurvival.com. David quoted Aristotle, who wrote 2500 years ago in his book Rhetoric.
I consider it one of the best things for a person to do if they are confronted with a bad situation.
Here it is
"It is absurd that a person feels shame at his inability to defend himself physically, but not his inability to defend himself through speech and reasoning, particularly given the fact that the use of speech is more common that the use of physical force".
I consider these words very wise.
Whether you prep or not, the fact that you can talk your way out of a situation more often than you can fight your way out means you can walk away unscathed Even if your ego takes a kick in the pants.
If your ego is writing checks your butt has to cash, then stop writing Get out of Dodge or whereever you find yourself if things get dicey.
I consider myself an "action oriented coward'
I don't start fight. I'll finish them if I have to. Avoiding problems, walking away from fights that are not my own or having the situation awareness to keep conflict on the 'other side of town' works for me. I have my family to consider so my ego just needs to pack it in.
Excellent material! Thanks AGXIIK!!
CDI thanks for the ack. It means a lot
AGX- can that material be bought directly from the costco stores, or only online?
The food and related items are usually bought through costco.com
I only once saw a 270 meal bucket at a costco retailer. Scroll through the costco.com line up of products It is fairly comprehensive.
Emergencyessentials.com has several manufacturers products in their line ups plus a wealth of other items frm the small flashlights and water filters to some pricey stuff I have purchased food and supplies from them.
SHTF.com is the portal for all things prepper. Mac Salvo has some good posts that involve more than just prepper stuff I get his emails and find it to be a good part of my data sifting.
Let me know what you find when you check these sites. Sometimes one or more sites have some good buys if you wait a bit. Taking on supplies etc is best done piecemealand slowly unless you have some really deep pockets. Even then the art of selective buying is good.
Start with food and water (free sometimes) Use the shopping lists in my post to start the process with small pieces of the list, justlike going to the grocery store.
Dont do what I did and jump on the first thing you see Comb the sites for price differentials. There are some worthy gaps in prices if you check and stay on the email lists.
Cheaperthandirt.com and sportsmansguide.com have a large inventory of goods including foods but I never bought edibles from there. hope this helps.
Hi 2oz
I doubt Australia will come to gold confiscation, at least in the near term. The government spends a lot of resources making itself the caring overseer. IOW we have a shocking nanny state. Gold confiscation is directly confronting (not usually their MO) and I doubt it would yield much comparitive benefit to a government who resides over tremendous in-ground reserves.
Having said that when I purchase metal here it is only done with identification (drivers licence) made prior to sale....they argue for $ laundering concerns.
We do have a housing bubble here and prices have come off a little (approx 5-10%) with demand (very slack) being a more telling indicator. A concern would be a massive rally on the AUD/USD post the next official Fed easing.
Cheers
This info is GREAT! Thanks for posting it. I wish that I could download a copy to keep but the format precludes that.
One important item I did not see listed in the BOBs or truck gear was a small pair of binos. I prefer the sports types that are camo'd and non-reflective. A lot of trouble can be avoided if you see it before it sees you.
How could they attempt to confiscate from you, if they don't know you have it ?
Would they go to millions of homes or businesses and threaten or torture people to give it up, not knowing if they even have any ?
I just don't think that's going to happen.
They could just uber tax any - legit - sales of it or devalue our currency.
They could confiscate safety deposit boxes.
But that's still a fishing expedition.
While I'm on board with many prepper ideas, I just don't see an Infantry Sqd going to homes and forcibly looking for gold...which might not even exist at the location.
Thanks for the heads up All Metal Construction: Good idea to stay under the radar. I think you are correct in your thoughts regarding confiscation. I am just an instigator and like to get debatable issues rolling. Why? Because there are a lot of people out there that are smarter than "your truly" and I learn a lot from you all (Especially if there's a good debate or argument going on).
Thanks again for the info. and have a great day,

GREAT recipe! I accept started authoritative my own laundry bactericide alone afresh - and adulation it - but don't accept a pretreatment aerosol - These are EASY capacity and I'm traveling to accord this a try!!! Thanks for announcement it!
